Civic crowdfunding: Alternative mechanism for financing social innovations

The report offers an overview of civic crowdfunding using the current literature on the topic, as well as data on funding mechanisms implemented by local public authorities across Europe. The authors investigate how and why civic crowdfunding can become an instrument for funding social innovations and propose - based on data collected from municipalities and support organizations from Romania - a mechanism to implement civic crowdfunding in Romanian cities, while also identifying concrete solutions to tackle some of the challenges that may arise throughout the implementation process.
